Dog’s Collection of Journal Entries & Drawings from Day 5 of the Apocalypse (His Favorite!):
Dog:
I did not know Going Away is a walk with Owner that does not end. It is my new favorite! I am keeping a table-scraps book about all our great days and foods so I can remember everything! Today I played chase with Owner and New Friend, who smelled like wet food! New Friend gave me a treat, but Owner really wanted to play tug with it. Eventually I let Owner win because I am not a shelf. Shelfs do not like to share any of the interesting things Owner puts on them. But there are no shelfs out here, only trees and new friends, so I will try not to be a shelf either. But it is a shame that I could not save some of my treat for my table-scraps book.
Owner:
We have been walking for days and are finally out of the city. I think we need to make for a freeway so we have something to follow, but I don’t want to be too exposed in the open. Even in the woods, we ran into a lone zombie shuffling around the trees. Thank goodness Dog was there. He distracted it and managed to rip off its hand before it could grab me. Then we ran away as fast as we could. I had to pull the thing out of Dog’s mouth when we were safe. I think he just got so worked up trying to protect me. What a good dog!
*Note to self – Must teach Dog “drop it.”
PS – For some reason Dog is trying to hide bits of food in a journal. Must look into that soon.
